# Position Information

Job Description
Bristol District is seeking to fill a Sign Supervisor to serve Dickenson and Wise Counties. Duties include providing leadership in sign installation, maintenance, and repair to include planning,scheduling,supervising, and performing new sign installation, repair or replacement of damaged signs, removing signs, receiving and responding to work orders, reviewing sign locations, ordering materials, and maintaining sign inventory and records; providing leadership in traffic control devices to include working with supervisors and managers at assigned locations to plan, schedule, supervise , and perform the placement, maintenance, and removal of traffic control devices for work zones, detours, lane closures, etc., according to the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD); receiving and responding to work orders; records preparation and management to include budget preparation, reports, data, and records; determining and demonstrating proper work site protection techniques; operating and maintaining vehicles and equipment to perform roadway maintenance and construction activities; preparing and operating equipment for emergency operations with possible supervision of shift operations in emergencies.

## Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge work zone safety, traffic controls, and flagging operations to include Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD); knowledge highway maintenance equipment, materials, methods, and procedures; knowledge inventory and budgeting practices; ability to perform heavy manual labor; ability to supervise work of others to include performance management; ability to compile data, prepare reports, and maintain records; ability to read, follow written instructions, and communicate effectively orally and in writing; skill in mathematics used in carpentry and calculating distance; skill in general carpentry; skill in operation of hand and power tools; skill in use of computer and software applications; skill in operation and maintenance of light, medium, and heavy duty equipment used in maintenance operations; experience in sign installation, maintenance, and repair; safety shoes required; valid driver's license; ability to obtain CDL and DOT medical card within 6 months of employment and maintain thereafter.
## Preferred Qualifications
Experience in emergency operations to include snow, ice, storms, accidents, etc.; experience supervising work of others; experience managing inventory; High School Diploma or GED preferred; equivalent experience or training may substitute for education.
## Special Requirements
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a DMV and fingerprint based criminal history records check. References and work history will be verified by the agency.
Required to work in emergency situations to include weekends, holidays, and after normal hours. Assignments may vary based on business needs.
Ability to obtain Basic and Intermediate Work Zone Safety, Flagging, First Aid, CPR, and Chainsaw Safety Certifications.
Must obtain Commercial Driver's License within 6 months from date of hire. Ability to work in diverse conditions including exposure to weather, animals, and/or insects outdoors in all seasons. Ability to perform manual labor to include standing, bending, and frequent lifting up to 25 lbs.
